Moxibustion 艾灸

Moxibustion is one of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) methods to treat diseases using moxa made from dried mugwort. Available in the market you often find two kinds of moxa: moxa wool and cigar-shaped moxa stick, which comes in with different length. Some suppliers also make non-smoke moxa (e.g stick-on moxa). There are three common ways to do moxibustion traditionally: jinger-moxibustion, garlic-moxibustion, and salt-moxibustion. Jinger-moxibustion is the most popular one,and it means to use a piece of jingle with small holes between your skin and the burning moxa. Garlic-moxibustion means to use a piece of garlic. Salt-moxibustion means to use some warm salt, preferring Qinghai salt, usually at Ren8 Shenque point.  When using moxa wool, only take a small amount of it, and roll it into cone-shape with bottom sitting on the surface of jinger, garlic or salt.  This is called one unit.
